Thank you for stopping by, and thank you so much for your interest in The Local Potter. Let me take a minute to introduce myself...
Born and raised a dancer, snowboarder, theater-enthusiast, and overall social butterfly in Timmins Ontario, I moved to Toronto to attend university thinking at the time that I would become a Psychologist. Five short years and a 50 page undergraduate thesis later, I realized that analyzing data in a computer lab just wasn’t my thing, and so though I didn’t graduate university and go on to become a Psychologist, I did leave with my degree and the knowledge that I would one day figure out how to blend my interest in human behaviour with the other interests in my life like creative arts. Fast-forward a year (and throw a post-graduate certificate in PR into the equation) and I suddenly found myself working in sales for a distribution company in the Fashion Industry which fulfilled my desire to both work with people, and work in a high-energy and creative environment that for me a computer lab lacked. I am happy to say that I have built an exciting 10-year career in an industry that I love!
However, if there is one thing I know about us ‘right-brained’ types, it’s that the 'creative wheel’ is always turning. For me, a simple desire to find a more hands-on creative outlet led me a drop in ceramics workshop back in 2014. Since that day, pottery quickly became my passion and not long after "The Local Potter" (TLP), was born.
Given my love of fashion, I like the aesthetic of my ceramic designs to be a reflection of my personal style: clean lines and solid colour, mixed with texture and a subtle hit of texture or bling (although I do wear the odd all-over-print cactus romper on very special occasions!) ;) I strive to create product that will excite your sister, mother, boyfriend or brother, and I always make everything by hand with love, in the heart of Toronto.
I am extremely grateful to be able to collaborate with some of the best Canadian makers and brands to bring you The Local General Store. Welcome! :) Please take a look around, and thank you for supporting the amazing local talent that Canada has to offer.
